Julie Alevizos
I’m Julie Alevizos, and I’m so excited to be part of the Karapriya Arts Center’s summer camp community! My background blends storytelling, education, and the arts. I started my career as an adjunct professor of film before earning a Master’s in Education from DePaul University, focusing on middle and secondary English Language Arts. I also hold degrees in Journalism and Film Producing, which fuel my passion for helping young people express themselves creatively.
During the school year, I teach 6th-grade ELA at Canty Elementary, where I focus on authentic writing, student voice, and building community through literature and discussion. At Karapriya, I’m thrilled to help campers explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect through art and education.
Outside of teaching, I’m a proud CPS mom, the owner of three dogs, a WBEZ Sounding Board member, and an enthusiastic gardener who loves getting her hands dirty. I can’t wait to learn, laugh, and create with everyone this summer!
