INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Kalapriya is seeking 2-3 dynamic and motivated Summer Interns to join our team. In this 6-week paid internship program, students will assist with Kalapriya’s “Journey through South Asia” summer camp, Late Day Program, and other ongoing projects within the organization. By working closely with Kalapriya’s Executive and Summer Camp Directors, students will gain valuable skills and experience in project management, communication, and collaboration. In addition, students will receive hands-on mentorship in arts administration, program coordination, curriculum development, and community engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Kalapriya staff with administrative tasks and ongoing projects related to summer cultural events, summer camp, and arts education program development.
Assist with creating promotional materials, newsletter, and social media content for marketing/outreach initiatives.
Participate in regular onsite and virtual staff meetings
Organize and catalog all materials, supplies, and costumes to aid in Kalapriya’s studio upkeep
Work closely with the Summer Camp Director to create a schedule of daily activities, games, and art projects that align with the camp's theme and objectives.
Maintain summer camp attendance records and coordinate regular communication with parents, students, and Kalapriya staff as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a rising high school senior up through first year college student
Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting preferred
Knowledge of or interest in South Asian cultures, languages, and traditions strongly preferred
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, campers, and parents/guardians.
INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE
This engagement will be executed in two phases between June 24 and August 2, 2024 as follows:
Phase 1 – Initial Summer Camp Development & Studio Assistance
Duration: June 24 to July 3, 2024
Schedule: Up to 5 days/week (Monday through Friday)
Hours: Up to 20.0 hours/weekPhase 2 – Program Implementation
Duration: July 8 to August 2, 2024
Schedule: Up to 5 days/week (Monday through Friday)
Hours: Up to 20.0 hours/week
