Often, we come into a concert with an expectation that it will be of a particular genre, whether Carnatic music, Western Classical, Rock, Folk, Jazz, etc. That understanding colors our experience coming into the concert, as well as our experience of it.

Today's concert seeks to be free of genre. To explore the undefined spaces that reflect identity and personality.

All four musicians come from a classical tradition of music where the form, customs, rules, and boundaries of the music are taught as defined positions and passed down from generation to generation.

The impetus for Aditya Prakash to create the music you will hear today, was to find personal connection and voice to his training in Carnatic music and his simultaneous upbringing in America with exposure to a variety of musical cultures.

Drawing inspiration from the foundations of Carnatic and Western classical, today’s music pushes the sonic and technical boundaries of the artforms. The concert comprises original music, reinterpretations of existing repertoire, and completely improvised pieces.
